The US State Department is sponsoring a panel on December 3 at 12PM EST entitled "Virtual Worlds as Green Spaces" that will feature a panel of experts inluding: Barbara Lombardo, a partner, Global Learning Solutions Leader, Human Capital Management Practice, at IBM Global Business Services; Judy Wade, the VP of Strategy and Emerging Business, Linden Lab; Hanno Tietgens of the TUEV NORD Group; and Anna Jaeger, the co-director of GreenTech at TechSoup Global.
Betterverse notes that it is becoming "routine" for the federal government to hold virtual events on public policy, in this case holding the event in Second Life, with In Kenzo, a creative director of the AMO Studio in SL, producing the event. This panel will be moderated by Bill May, the office director of the office of Innovative Engagement at the State Department.
The event will discuss the following two main themes related to work and energy use: 1) Can virtual worlds be viable and efficient workplaces?, and 2) How can virtual work impact energy use, policy and action regarding climate change?
