IBM's Innov8 2.0 'serious game' business model 3D simulation has been adapted by Farmer's Insurance's University of Farmers, Claims for some of its training facilities and programs. Innov8 is a game centered on business process management.
The latest version of the software offers users challenges in a number of areas: call center management, the supply chain, traffic, and customer service. In a virtual environment, users are tasked with solving problems in these three areas and are scored appropriately.
The corporate training model used by Farmer's will help train its call center employees. According to IBM, Innov8 will "be used to give employees a hands-on experience in processing claims and managing customer calls to streamline the company's business process and deliver top-notch customer service." It will also be used on the Farmer's Web site as a consumer education tool.
"We see serious gaming as an ideal delivery system for a number of learning opportunities, so these are just the first two areas in which we plan to deploy this technology," said Mike Cuffe, vice president of learning at the UofF, Claims, in a statement.
"As a leader in SOA and BPM, we are committed to developing skills in these critical areas. We are seeing exponential growth in the serious games market. These games are being used to introduce new skills, evaluate business performance and develop leadership capabilities," said Sandy Carter, vice president of SOA, BPM and WebSphere at IBM. "The UofF, Claims, is at the forefront of developing a highly-effective training model within a compelling game format leveraging Innov8 2.0."

Very disappointed with the course I took, its the same old flash style tech slightly jazzed up. I should know that anything named Innov8 would not be an innovation. Call me jaded, but big companies don't innovate.
